Festo Corporation: Pneumatic safety valves

Festo’s MS6-SV and MS9-SV pneumatic safety valves can be mounted either as stand-alone units or incorporated with Festo air preparation systems to provide safety, performance, and long equipment service life.

The safety valves feature soft start functionality, and beneficial price versus performance ratio. The MS6-SV is available in Performance Level c and e units; the MS9-SV is available in a Performance Level c unit.  Both the MS6-SV and MS9-SV have integrated soft start and exhaust functions in a compact unified body.

The MS6-SV-E series is certified to the DIN ISO 13849-1 safety standard:  category 4, performance level e. This valve has an exhaust rate of 9,000 l/min from P2 to P3. The valve delivers continuous testing and sensing of the safety function.

The MS6-SV-E-ASIS valve option has an integrated network connection to AS-Interface Safety at Work, which eliminates the need for an additional safety relay. The ASIS valve option includes switching status sensing and diagnostic functions. The input and output pressures P1 and P2 are internally monitored and can be read via the AS-Interface bus.

The MS6-SV-C and MS9-SV-C are suitable for applications with performance level c safety requirements. The c series valves are single channel safety units designed to enable fast safety exhaust.  Flow rates for the MS6-SV-C used for station level safety:  P1 > P2 5,700 l/min; P2 > P3 7,600 l/min.  Flow rate for the MS9-SV-C applied at the machine level:  P1 > P2 15,500 l/min; P2 > P3 20,500 l/min.  Both have adjustable pressure ramp-up rate and switching point.

The safety valves can be mounted with the Festo MS air preparation series.  The MS series air preparation units combine all of the standard functions of air preparation with additional options for pressure regulators, filters, dryers, sensors, lubricators, and safety. The series includes function modules with integrated sensors, remote adjustability, and remote-controlled pressure monitoring for maximum process security.
