Daubert Cromwell, a distributor in Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) packaging, announces the launch of Daubert VCI Films with BioNatur—the first 100% biodegradable and 100% recyclable corrosion-inhibiting films designed for real-world environmental conditions.
These films biodegrade over time in landfill environments, breaking down into soil, gases, and water without leaving behind microplastics. At the same time, they are fully recyclable with standard polyethylene materials, offering manufacturers a cost-effective, sustainable packaging solution that doesn’t sacrifice performance.
This represents a step forward in sustainable packaging, offering manufacturers and shippers a high-performance, eco-conscious alternative to traditional polyethylene (PE) films, which can take hundreds of years to decompose.
“We’re excited to offer a game-changing solution that supports our customers’ sustainability goals without compromising product performance,” says Martin Simpson, President & CEO at Daubert Cromwell. “With BioNatur, we’re helping reduce the long-term environmental impact of corrosion protection packaging.”
Key Benefits of Daubert VCI Films with BioNatur
- 100% Landfill Biodegradable: Biodegrades in landfill environments within 8–12 years.
- No Microplastics: Biodegrades completely into soil, gases, and water.
- 100% Recyclable: Can be recycled with other polyethylene products with no restrictions or separation required.
- Trusted Performance: Maintains the same strength and provides the same corrosion protection as standard Daubert VCI films.
- Landfill-Ready: Designed for real world disposal scenarios—where the majority of spent plastics (up to 95% and 98% of packaging waste) typically end up.
- No Special Composting Required: Biodegrades naturally in anaerobic (oxygen-deprived) conditions that exist in a landfill, where bacteria will digest it.
Tested, Proven, and Industry-Ready
Thanks to proprietary BioNatur additives, Daubert’s polyethylene films are transformed into a digestible food source for microbes found in landfills. These microbes break the plastic down completely—unlike oxo-degradable plastics, which only fragment into microplastics.
“Side-by-side testing confirmed that our BioNatur films deliver the same physical strength and corrosion protection as our conventional VCI films,” says Dr. Jonathan Brekan, Vice President of Technology at Daubert Cromwell. “It’s a solution that performs where it matters—on the job and in the environment.”
Simple Transition, Global Availability
Daubert VCI Films with BioNatur are available worldwide and can be produced using any of Daubert Cromwell’s proprietary VCI chemistries, including industry-trusted Premium Metal-Guard and Clear Pak film lines.
These biodegradable films are also available in recycled-content versions, such as:
- Clear Pak RC
- Premium Metal-Guard RC
Both contain over 30% recycled material and are also fully biodegradable.
With this launch, Daubert Cromwell empowers industries to make more environmentally responsible packaging decisions without compromising quality or effectiveness. Whether used VCI Films or bags are sent to a landfill or sent for recycling, users can be confident they are doing the right thing for the environment.
“Our new biodegradable VCI films help companies meet sustainability targets with low environmental impact and high recyclability—all without sacrificing performance,” says Martin Simpson, “We’re proud to introduce a product that is good for the environment and advances the protective packaging industry. Daubert VCI Films with BioNatur do it all.”
