Currently, USDA allows supermarkets to display charts with the nutrition information in lieu of package labeling. The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a Washington, DC-based consumer advocacy group, praised the legislation, saying it will ensure that consumers get the facts about fat in meat. A CSPI survey of the 20 largest grocery chains found that while some chains provided nutrition information on packages of ground beef, others did not.
