Anna Miller, a senior in Packaging Science from Pinehurst, NC, has been selected as the Packaging World Outstanding Packaging Science Senior for the Spring 2015 semester. Focusing on Food and Medical Packaging, Miller has participated in several sustainability-focused team projects, including assisting in a Lifecycle Assessment comparing grocery bag materials to aid in the conversation on creating legislature pertaining to plastic bag bans. She has also gained Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and participated in several student packaging design competitions, placing in the DuPont Danisco Knowledge Award contest in partnership with a team of Food Science students. Most recently, she has participated in the Michigan State University study abroad to the United Kingdom where she toured various manufacturing and design centers and studied European packaging in comparison to North America. Miller has also been very involved with the Clemson Packaging Department as the founding President and officer of the re-established Packaging Science Club and Chair of the Student Planning Committee for the 2015 Packaging Jamboree. Through her internship with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, OH and co-op with Mondelēz International in East Hanover, NJ, she has gained many technical and professional skills and she looks forward to starting her packaging career upon graduation.

Clemson also has named Marcus Mrazeck the Harris Smith Outstanding Packaging Science Senior for the Spring 2015 semester. Mrazeck will graduate in May 2015 with a B.S. in Packaging Science and an emphasis on Food and Healthcare Packaging. He spent his co-op at Mondelez International, where he led new confectionery commercialization projects and optimized packaging components for a number of existing products. He enjoys participating in packaging design competitions and has placed in the top three for challenges with IoPP, PMMI, and DuPont. When not engaged in packaging pursuits, he enjoys mountain biking near Clemson’s campus and in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park near his home in Cleveland, OH.
