New BHS Flexline Compact installed at Boelter Industries

Boelter Industries, Inc. (www.boelterindustries.com) increased printing and converting capacity with the installation of a second BHS Flexline Compact flexographic press from Gallus (www.gallus-packaging.org).

While initially impressed by the straightforward design of the machine and the little floor space it needs compared to other inline presses, it was the print quality that sold the press, says Boelter, a converter of folding cartons and specialty paper products.

The BHS Flexline Compact AFC 1006 with automatic unwind and inline flat-bed die-cutter is now in full production. "The BHS installation crew managed to interface with our existing die-cutter in almost no time and we had a smooth and successful start up," says president Les Boelter (right). "We experienced excellent trapping properties, even when printing heavy solids in subsequent stations," Boelter explains, referring to the high-performance dryers after each station. This enables them to print high-volume ink lay downs as well as fine process line screens. Especially when using water-based inks, this is a distinct advantage as almost every print design requires both.

The servo driven BHS Flexline Compact is quiet and vibration-free, resulting in uniform vignettes with no slur or gear marks. "The only limit for speed is the flat-bed die-cutter, topping at 800 fpm or 22,500 strokes/hour," states Boelter.

Dennis Boelter (left), general manager, says "In one pass we unwind, print, and die-cut all inline ending with a finished blank ready for shipment. While we still have one back shift to fill, we believe from our experience with BHS presses, it will take no time to close the gap due to the quality we can offer our customers."
