Unicep Packaging inks contract with GSK

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has awarded Unicep Packaging (www.unicep.com), Sandpoint, ID, a contract packager for gels, liquids, and creams, a three-year contract to provide turnkey packaging services for a line of personal-care products.

In March 2009, Unicep began shipping to GSK’s distribution center in Memphis, TN. The agreement took place after the two companies developed and executed a transfer process over several months. “When GSK was evaluating suppliers, I believe it was evident that we had the technology and infrastructure to partner with them on the strategic move,” says Greg Taylor, Unicep director of program management.

Unicep developed a cross-functional team, traveled to multiple GSK locations, and executed the transfer process to begin manufacturing operations for GSK. “We are very pleased to announce this partnership with one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and health care companies,” says Clint Marshall, Unicep vice president of business development. “Companies like GSK are striving for leaner and more efficient operations.”
