Two-chamber bottle serves Stridex

Spotted last month at a Chicagoland Walgreen’s store was Stri-Dex-brand Day & Night acne medication in a single dual-chamber bottle.

Threaded onto the two necks are two separate dispensing pump assemblies. Each pump dispenses either a day or night formula.

The pumps are color-coordinated to match descriptive pressure-sensitive front and back labels. Each bottle contains 0.8 oz of “Day Gel” formula, and 0.8 oz of “Night Lotion.” The peel-away three-panel back label provides ingredients, usage directions, lot and expiration numbers.

Interpreting the logo on the white opaque bottle’s bottom, Magenta Corp. (Chicago, IL) supplies the bottle, a three-piece injection-molded assembly that is topped with a clear plastic overcap that snaps into a ridge around the bottle.

The product is sold in a folding carton from The Nosco Printing Group (Waukegan, IL). The printed SBS cartons are die-cut near the top of the front panel to show the two separate dispensers inside.

Stri-Dex Day & Night, purchased for $7.29, is one of the non-lip care products from Oak Brook, IL-based Blistex, Inc. A representative for the privately held firm says it’s company policy not to comment. —JB
