NFPA on EC's claims on food

It encouraged a science-based approach that allows truthful claims that can be scientifically substantiated.

NFPA took issue with several provisions in the document, particularly those related to the establishment of nutrient profiles and those that unnecessarily restrict the use of widely accepted guidance or advice from government or health authorities for foods, food groupings, or categories. NFPA urged that the EC regulation harmonize with the international standards of Codex Alimentarius.
