Consumers read nutrition labels

In a recent study, 80% of 1궢 adults surveyed in Washington State in 1995 and 1996 reported reading nutrition labels. The study was sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and conducted at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

Women who had attended college or were under 35 were most likely to read labels. Other studies have found that the number of people reading nutrition labels has increased steadily.
