A native of Clemson, SC, McGee spent his junior and senior years of high school at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC. This enabled him to enter Clemson in 2010 as a freshman with close to 30 hours of credit under his belt. With overlapping interests in art, design, and science, McGee has found the study of packaging science at Clemson to be a perfect fit. He was part of the Clemson University Dean’s and President’s Lists Fall 2012 through Fall 2014. In Spring 2013 his team was selected as a finalist in several packaging design competitions, including the PPA Student Design Challenge, Danisco Knowledge Award Competition, and the 48-Repack Student Design Competition. During that same semester, he served as a packaging consultant for a small local company called Cartledge Product Development. June through December of 2013 McGee had the opportunity to further his education through an R&D packaging engineer co-op with Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ, and the following Spring and Summer he worked as a research assistant in the Clemson University Sonoco Package Testing Lab. This semester, Fall 2014, he’s been able to share some of the knowledge that has been passed down to him through a teaching assistantship under Dr. Gregory Batt at Clemson University.

“We nominate two outstanding seniors each year, one for the fall and one for the spring graduating class,” says Anthony Pometto, Professor in the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences at Clemson. “Each will receive $500 from Packaging World’s generous support of this award.”
