Judging for WorldStar Student Awards to be Held at Pack Expo

Pack Expo International 2012 will be the site for judging the World Packaging Organization's (WPO) 2012 WorldStar Student Awards, an international packaging design competition; WPO will conduct the judging on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

"When you think of packaging, you think of Pack Expo. There's no better place to judge the awards. Attending this show is standard procedure for most of our potential judges," says WPO member Patrick Farrey, Executive Director, Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). As this year's competition "host," or organizer, IoPP is managing logistics.
Submissions will be scored on the following criteria:

Innovation
Aesthetic/shelf appeal
Environmental compliance
Easy of manufacturing
Convenience
Global relevance
Packaging experts from around the world will evaluate the entries, Farrey adds, noting that confirmed judges come from the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Kenya as well as the United States.
"I'm very pleased to have the award judging on site at Pack Expo International 2012," says Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO of show owner and producer PMMI. "It fully complements PMMI and Pack Expo efforts to support, encourage, and inspire packaging and processing education."
The three highest-scoring entries will be named "WorldStar Student Winners," and the next 10 highest scores will receive a Certificate of Merit. Student winners will receive professional acknowledgment and the publicity surrounding the award. Award recipients will be recognized at the U.S. Student Packaging Jamboree in March 2013.
