Anderson Packaging Inc., a pharmaceutical contract packager in Rockford, IL, has been recognized by the International Quality and Productivity Centre in its annual Process Excellence Awards competition. Anderson won the small-to-mid-sized corporation category for Best Process Improvement in a Manufacturing Project for submitting a detailed summary of its Lean Six Sigma project optimizing the company’s pharmaceutical bottle-packaging lines.

Compass Pharma Services, Clifton, NJ, has completed a capital investment project to upgrade its contract pharmaceutical packaging capabilities to include ISO Class 8 specifications. The company also has expanded its blister packaging capacity for contract pharmaceutical packaging and contract vitamin packaging customers with the installation of a new high-speed blister-packaging machine from Uhlmann USA.

DePaul Industries, Portland, OR, has been named the 2009 Food Processor of the Year by the Northwest Food Processors Association Education and Research Institute.

Sterling Contract Packaging Inc., Spartanburg, SC, will begin providing packaging and logistics services for products marketed by Kaz Inc. and open a 30,000-sq-ft facility at the Corporate Center in Spartanburg.

J-PAC LLC, Somersworth, NH, a medical device contract manufacturer and packager, has relaunched its Web site, www.j-pac.com, with a new look to highlight the full range of the company’s services, adding information about its expanded services.

Gehl Foods Inc., Germantown, WI, will install a high-density automated storage and retrieval system in the company’s 300,000-sq-ft warehouse. The company said the system will maximize storage space and provide significant operational savings in labor costs and energy.

PacMoore, a contract manufacturer of dry ingredients in Hammond, IN, has received Grade A Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) certification and also become BRC-certified to meet the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard.

LiDestri Foods, Fairport, NY, has purchased its fifth and largest manufacturing facility, totaling 665,000 sq ft, in Rochester, NY. The building was once part of Kodak Park, and LiDestri is looking to expand services by building an innovation center on the property.

• Contract manufacturer and packager Pak Technologies, Milwaukee, WI, has purchased a 94,000-sq-ft industrial building in the city’s Granville Woods Business Park for its new headquarters and food packaging division facility.

Segue Manufacturing Services, a contract manufacturer in Lowell, MA, has received ISO 13485:2003 certification in the medical equipment and device market. [CP]
