PMMI alters Pack Expo 2010

A shortened schedule and new partners will keep Pack Expo International strong in a changing market.

The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) has made significant changes to Pack Expo International 2010, which will be Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The changes will include both expansions and—in one significant case—reductions.

One noteworthy change will be a shorter show—from five days to four—in response to exhibitors’ changing preferences and visitors’ attendance habits. That’s according to PMMI Director of Membership Services Matt Crosin, who said that for years, exhibitors were split 50-50 on the issue of making the Chicago event shorter. “After last year’s show, that number changed to 70-30,” he says. “We’re rightsizing the show to reflect the industry’s demands.”

Next year, the National Confectioners Association also will join the show.
