Refillable Personal Care Products a Boon for Boutique Hotel

Fitting both the aesthetics and the eco-friendly vibe of boutique hotel Hero Beach Club, Public Goods personal care products in reusable, bio-based packaging adorn each room of the premium establishment.

Hero Beach Club uses Public Goods’ non-toxic body lotion, hand soap, conditioner, shampoo, and body wash products in 12-oz refillable bottles made from 90% sugarcane-based bioplastic.

Hero Beach Club is a 30-room boutique hotel located in the popular summertime destination town of Montauk, N.Y. Offering a “unique blend of tranquility and tradition offset by the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean,” the hotel offers its guest rooms, including its five suites, at a price fit for what is the most expensive summer destination in the U.S.: $400 to $2,500 per night, depending on the season.

According to the hotel’s general manager, Alexander Eberle, Hero Beach Club strives to be an environmentally conscious establishment. “In this age of climate change, we look for ways in which we can contribute to reducing waste by offering quality organic products that come in eco-friendly packaging.”

Until recently, the hotel was using single-use, disposable packaging for its hotel toiletries, which Eberle says resulted in more waste and more work for hotel staff. For the sake of economics and the environment, Hero Beach Club switched to Public Goods’ non-toxic body lotion, hand soap, conditioner, shampoo, and body wash products in 12-oz refillable bottles made from 90% sugarcane-based bioplastic from Braskem. Bottles are displayed in the shower in double and triple wall-mounted holders, also supplied by Public Goods.
