Milestones

Lantech, Louisville, KY, a company founded on the introduction of the first commercially successful pallet stretch-wrapping machine, has reached 35 years in business.

The machine made unitizing practical, affordable, and safe for many products. It also allowed bags, buckets, cartons, and building materials to be secured on a pallet for truck shipment, rather than floor-stacked, strapped to a pallet, or shrink-bagged on a pallet. Lantech was also the first to automate stretch wrapping so it could be integrated with a palletizer. CEO Jim Lancaster owns the independent company. He is the son of founder Pat Lancaster, who is chairman and a product development consultant to the company.
