Engenesys is expanding its packaging automation offering with the introduction of its new Automated Magazine Loader (AML), a patented system engineered to automate the repetitive task of loading cartons into horizontal cartoner magazines.
Although automated carton magazine loading systems have been available for decades, Engenesys identified an opportunity to approach the application differently. Traditional solutions can be complex and expensive, making the ROI difficult to justify. The AML was developed around a streamlined process and simple, flexible design intended to make automation of this task more accessible to manufacturers.
The AML automatically depalletizes carton cases and supplies cartons to the cartoner magazine, reducing the need for a dedicated operator to perform manual loading. The production-proven system can handle case weights up to 50 pounds and is configurable for application-specific case sizes and pallet arrangements.
A key feature is the system's ability to work with new or existing cartoning equipment. Its unique magazine extension can be retrofitted to existing horizontal carton magazines, allowing manufacturers to add automated carton loading without necessarily replacing their existing cartoner.
“The question wasn't whether carton magazine loading could be automated—it already could,” said John Paselsky, Founding Partner of Engenesys. “The question was whether we could make it simpler, more flexible and easier to justify economically. That's what we set out to accomplish with the AML.”
The system provides a number of potential operational benefits, including increased automation, higher throughput, consistent feeding, labor savings, improved carton handling, and ergonomic and safety improvements. It is designed for applications where uptime and line efficiency are critical.
The AML can operate at speeds of up to three cases per minute and is designed around Engenesys' philosophy: Simple Design = Low Cost = Faster ROI.
