More conferences for EastPack

Several groups are planning conference sessions during EastPack in Philadelphia. Some are planned for Monday, the day before the show opens on Tuesday, May 23.

Later this month, packagers attending EastPack, May 23 to 25 in Philadelphia, will be able to fill out their schedules by attending one or more conferences and seminars, sponsored by several associations that serve a variety of industries. Descriptions of these sessions were unavailable when Packaging World went to press with preview coverage of the show (see April ’00, p. 50). Because time before EastPack is short, we’ve included phone numbers for the organizations sponsoring the sessions.

On Monday, May 22, the day before the EastPack exhibition opens, the National Food Processors Assn. (phone: 202/639-5900) is sponsoring a session on 21st century processing and packaging technologies. On the same day, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (phone: 800/733-4763) holds a morning session on Systems integration and an afternoon conference on Fundamentals of performance packaging. Also on Monday morning, San José State University (phone: 408/924-3210) will hold a full-day conference on Packaging sales and purchasing.

On Tuesday, along with conferences sponsored by the Institute of Packaging Professionals, SME offers a session on Fundamentals of quick changeover and an introductory session on Pharmaceu-tical packaging.

For Wednesday, May 24, SME offers an introductory look at Cosmetic and personal care packaging and a session covering Proven solutions to cut change-over time. SME is also planning two concurrent morning sessions for Thursday, May 25. One will cover Contract packaging and outsourcing. The other examines Robotics in packaging and palletizing.

Pavilions on the EastPack exhibition floor include Creative Packaging and its Dot.Com Packages Showcase, a Closure and Containers Solution Center, Automation & Controls and System Integration, Material Handling, Converting and Creative Marketing.

And Women in Packaging (phone: 770/924-3563) announced that DuPont’s Cyrel Packaging Graphics Products will sponsor its networking program on Wednesday, May 24, at 5 p.m.
