Products are in the pipeline that enable both consumer packaged goods manufacturers and the companies that package consumer products to monitor production lines in real time. Nulogy Corp. is introducing one of these products, PackManager Mobile, at Pack Expo and targeting the contract packaging industry.
Nulogy is demonstrating PackManager Mobile on the Apple iPhone on the show floor. The new product leverages some of the latest mobile hardware available and extends PackManager, Nulogy’s existing turnkey supply chain management software platform. Created for contract packagers, PackManager’s benefits include real-time monitoring, production-line-issue notification, and integrated systems that measure inventory accurately with and without using pallet tags.
Some contract packagers on the show floor tell Contract Packaging they are beginning to explore packaging-related possibilities for wireless technology. They believe that such enhancements, if adaptable to packaging, could improve production efficiency and inventory control. Nulogy believes PackManager Mobile could provide a step in that direction.
“Contract packagers have to be so responsive and flexible that they can’t afford to be out of touch with their shop floor for even a minute,” says Kevin Wong, Nulogy’s chief technology officer. “We’re taking our PackManager solution a leap ahead to make sure our customers can monitor their production in real time and communicate back with the floor easily.”
