OTC pain pill warnings

FDA has proposed requiring labels of all over-the-counter (OTC) painkillers to carry a warning that consumption of three or more alcoholic drinks per day while using the medication could cause liver damage or stomach bleeding.

Affected are aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, naproxen sodium and related painkillers marketed under a variety of brand names. Pain relievers previously marketed as prescription drugs are required to bear the warnings, while manufacturers of some OTC pain pills have voluntarily labeled their products.
