GMA applauded the idea of harmonization between the Canadian and American nutrition labels and encouraged “mutual acceptance of both trading partners’ labeling format.” FDA and Health Canada should begin a dialogue on harmonization, GMA said.

In a letter to an official of the Food Directorate at Health Canada, Grocery Manufacturers of America said it strongly supports Canada’s development of a consistent science-based nutrition label to help Canadians make more informed decisions about their food choices.
