Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials launched Global MDO Next Generation, a semi-squeeze film that offers brands and converters enhanced clarity, conformability, and sustainability. By continuing to innovate on its Global MDO film, Avery Dennison is enabling brands and converters to better respond to consumers’ desire for transparency and sustainability in food, beverage, and personal care products.
Global MDO Next Generation achieves a 60% improvement in clarity compared with the current Global MDO product. Combined with improved conformability across a wide range of squeeze requirements, the clarity enables maximum creative freedom and allows designers to create the clear-on-clear “no label” look.
Global MDO Next Generation does not require a topcoat and comes out of production with shelf-ready clarity. Clear films can also be combined with printing and decoration techniques for greater design possibilities.
The new film also offers enhanced sustainability. It is available with Avery Dennison’s CleanFlake adhesive technology, which helps to ensure it separates cleanly from PET containers during the recycling process. Compared with Global CO-EX film using the Avery Dennison Greenprint methodology, Global MDO Next Generation reduced energy, water use and waste by 22% and greenhouse gas emissions by 21%.
“Global MDO Next Generation represents a significant advancement in our semi-squeeze product offering that was made possible by Avery Dennison’s commitment to continuous innovation,” said Riley Nay, film product manager for Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials. “With improved clarity, conformability, and sustainability, this solution offers brands and converters the opportunity to flex their creative muscle and deliver packaging that not only stands out on the shelf, but also addresses consumers’ desire for sustainability.”
