Packaging redesign for potting soil

The Scotts Co. recently chose Marketing By Design, Inc. to refresh and update the packaging design of its potting soil product line. The line includes eight SKUs in multiple size recloseable plastic bags that hit the market in April.

The design accentuates plant foliage and vibrant colors through illustrations instead of photography. “Enhancing the bright colors and beautiful flowers on the packaging make the bag attractive at retail, and the prominent container visually helps consumers to understand the product’s intended use,” says Jon Fehrman, Scotts’ creative services design manager. “MBD did an outstanding job taking an older but successful design to the next level in visual impact. The new design is truly a work of art,” he says. Printed flexographically, the new resealable packages are available nationwide at all major retailers.
