Inside is a push-through vinyl/foil blister strip holding 60 tablets. Sequential printing helps patients keep track of which doses they have taken. The carton also provides a dosage calendar to help patients keep track of when they take their medication and to alert them when a refill is needed. Sharp loads the blister strip into the carton by hand.
Trizivir—which combines three drugs in a single tablet—will remain available in the conventional plastic bottle format, too, says GSK. The price for 60 tablets in either package will be the same, says GSK, even though the Convenience Pack will cost more than the bottle.
“We’re pleased to offer this new packaging for Trizivir,” says Doug Manion, vice president of clinical development and medical affairs at GSK. “We know how important it is to do all we can to make taking HIV drugs easier for patients.”
