Plastipak: Tamper evident finish

Plastipak Packaging (Plymouth, MI) has introduced a new TE neck finish on its range of injection stretch/blow-molded hot-fillable PET bottles. When the plastic closure is twisted off and the TE band breaks away from it, the dimensions of the bottle finish permit the band to drop down significantly lower (left) than on industry-standard bottles (right).

This provides a clearer indication that the bottle has been opened. The finish also has greater thread overlap to help prevent ovalization at typical fill temperatures.
