Designed by TricorBraun, the 3Mä Patch Plus Primer 4 in 1 package earned honors in the household category in the 2016 WorldStar Awards competition held by the World Packaging Organization in Mumbai, India.

The package features a unique tube that not only contains 3M’s combined patching plaster and paint primer product, but also features a flat solid end that serves as a putty knife and includes a sanding pad on its closure. The resulting inclusive package provides both products and tools for quick household repairs.

WPO says, “This unique 4 in 1product includes all that a homeowner would need to prep their walls prior to painting. With Spackle, primer, a putty knife, and sand paper all in 1 product, this package successfully brings all 4 of these together. With a 1-inch plastic putty knife on the top of this modified bottle, and a red double wall closure with sand disc top, this package brings all products together in one easy hand-held product.”

A May 14, 2015 3M press release introducing the product said, “The 3M Patch Plus Primer 4-in-1 Applicator was created to simplify the process of home repair and help DIYers of all experience levels tackle small repairs with ease,” said Jeremy Johnson, 3M Abrasives marketing supervisor. “3M’s proprietary nanotechnology coupled with the innovative packaging helps makes any project more approachable, while still delivering top-quality results.”

The 3M package was one of two 2016 WPO winners for TricorBraun, which was also honored for the Instant Knockout package in the Medical & Pharmaceutical category.

Keith Strope, TricorBraun’s CEO notes, “Recognition by WPO, which represents packaging professionals from around the world, is a special honor. Being recognized twice is even more gratifying.”

Award judging sessions took place on October 8 and 10 during the WPO Board Meeting program in Mumbai, with 17 late entries being judged online by the same panel of judges during November. Representatives from 19 packaging associations that are members of WPO judged 293 packaging projects, from 35 countries that had been entered in the WorldStar Awards 2016. The 2016 WorldStar Awards will be presented at a gala dinner in Budapest, Hungary on May 26, 2016.
