In Ontario, hazardous and special waste diversion program finds support within industry...

In July, Ontarians will be asked to participate in an ambitious program to collect more hazardous and special waste products.

Companies that make and paint oil filters, batteries, fertilizer and antifreeze are helping launch the program. Opportunities to manage special waste products and packaging include 255 new collection event days, in addition to the 169 days that many municipalities already have in place. What's most impressive? Eighty percent of the cost of the program will be paid for by the industries that produce the products and packages!
