Eliminating pathogens in pet foods

This Wisconsin pet food manufacturer uses Hydrostatic High Pressure processing to chase pathogens from foods it makes for cats and dogs.

I’ve been hearing a fair bit about using HHP (Hydrostatic High Pressure) processing to eliminate harmful pathogens from food that humans consume. But Stella & Chewy’s of Muskego, WI, are using this technology for pet food. The recent spate of recalls in the pet food industry—Nature’s Valley is a recent example --is all the motivation that Stella & Chewy’s needs, says prnewswire.com.

The Muskego firm, which makes both frozen and freeze dried foods for dogs and for cats, uses only raw, USDA-inspected meat that is raised with no added hormones or antibiotics added to the diet.
