Low-sugar suit

A California homemaker sued Kraft Foods Co., General Mills Cereal, and Kellogg USA, charging they misrepresented their products by prominently featuring “low sugar” on packaging of lower sugar varieties of such popular cereals as Cocoa Puffs and Froot Loops.

A nutrition analysis revealed that both the old and new versions of the cereals had the same amount of calories, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, and other nutrients. An attempt is being made to turn it into a class action suit on behalf of all California consumers who purchased the cereals thinking they were more healthful than the old version.
