The PharmafillTM  BCV1 Bottomless Conveyor from packaging machinery manufacturer Deitz Co., Wall, NJ, enables food, pharmaceutical, and dietary supplement manufacturers to comply with FDA lot traceability requirements without adding labels, staff, or compromising packaging line throughput. An aid in compliance with 21 CFR 111 and 21 CFR 117, which comprises the Food Traceability Rule, the BCV1 Bottomless Conveyor automatically captures plastic, glass, and metal bottles from a conveyor, suspends them between dual hugger belts, and moves them above a printer. Lot traceability codes, QR codes, bar codes, and other serialization data are automatically printed or laser marked on the bottle bottoms without slowing the line speed, diverting or rotating the bottles, or involving any staff.

“21 CFR 111 and 21 CFR 117 are two of the most frequently enforced federal regulations in our industry,” says Caylin Cuillier, SVP, Quality and Operations for nutraceutical manufacturer Western Botanicals, Spanish Fork, Utah. “The bottomless conveyors with ink jet printers allow for in-line traceability that helps us meet and exceed those requirements while being able to maintain the throughput that we need to satisfy customer demand.”

The Bottomless Conveyor is manufactured at Deitz Company's Wall, New Jersey, headquarters and may be tested with a choice of bottles and printers on the company's in-house testing/training packaging line. The conveyor is compatible with a wide range of printing and marking devices.
