Plexpack recently teamed up with B&R to create a new human machine interface for Emplex Bag Sealers.

It provides fast, repeatable set up

It simplifies operation and maintenance

It increases flexibility to manage important data and resources

Enhancements include an easy-to-use touchscreen interface that simplifies setting, monitoring, and tracking crucial controls. It can manage heat, seal pressure, and speed.

Customers can also set preferences to

These solutions using B&R technology help Plexpack deliver enhanced capabilities for customers:

One Point Calibration of Process Variables

Customers can easily calibrate precise, repeatable sealing settings for:

  • Speed
  • Temperature
  • Pressure

Unit Selection

Customers can select a preferred unit of measurement, including:

  • Speed
    • in/min (default), ft/min, m/min
  • Temperature
    • Fahrenheit (default), Celsius
  • Pressure
    • PSI (default), bar
  • Length
    • inch (default), millimeter

Recipe Management

Customers are now able to choose preferred settings for different materials and products and better monitor related outcomes.

User Management

Customers can monitor activity by user for increased security and production management, such as:

  • Operator
  • Supervisor
  • Maintenance
  • OEM

Language Selection

Plexpack sells Emplex Bag Sealers worldwide. B&R’s touchscreen system has enabled customers to easily input their preferred language settings.

Integrated System Diagnostics

Integrated system diagnostics allow users to monitor key components to prevent machine or product damage in case of a system failure. Background monitoring includes:

  • Motor/Drive failure
  • Thermocouple failure
  • Heating element failure
  • Pressure control failure

Preventative Maintenance Warnings

Regular machine-maintenance alerts allow customers to maintain peak performance and machine operability. Alerts include:

  • Motor brush hours,
    • This function is resettable
    • The warning alerts customers to change motor brushes
  • Heating element hours
    • This function is resettable
    • This warning alerts customers to change heating elements
  • Teflon band distance travelled,
    • This function is resettable
    • This warning alerts the user to change bands
  • Sealing and cooling bar hours
    • This function is resettable
    • This alarm alerts the user to change heating and cooling bars
  • Infeed belt distance travelled,
    • This function is resettable
    • This alert tells the user to grease belts
  • Total machine hours
    • This function is non-resettable and discloses the hours of use the machine has had

Pictorial Maintenance Guides

Customers can view easy to understand pictorial guided instructional tutorials on:

  • Changing Teflon bands
  • Changing infeed belts
  • Changing heater cartridges
  • General help for machine setup and configuration
