B&G Plastics, Inc: Shoplifting protection for bottles

B&G Plastics (Newark, NJ) developed an EAS-integrated anti-shoplifting device that can be inserted directly into bottled liquid products at point of manufacture.

Patented device called the Winged Smartseal encapsulates an Acousto-magnetic EAS label within a plastic housing. It is completely sealed to eliminate any interaction between the liquid and the EAS device, yet can be sensed and deactivated while inside the bottle. Wings protrude from the device and are flexible to facilitate insertion of the device into the bottle, and then to restrict it from exiting the bottle when the contents are poured. Device is currently being used to protect bottled liquids in the home center market.
