Running November 18 to 22 at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Parc des Expositions, Emballage 2002 is setting its sights beyond the French market, as the show becomes increasingly comprehensive and international in scope. Emballage is sponsored by Exposium, represented in North America by Imex Management (Charlotte, NC).

This year, 50% of the show’s 2꺈 exhibitors will be from abroad, and 35% of the 111ꯠ visitors will be from places other than France. Italy holds onto its position as the top country outside of France showing its wares at Emballage. Its exhibition area has increased by 5% over Emballage 2000.

In addition to the international pavillions that regularly represent Belgium, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Greece, Israel, and the United States, the show will feature first-time pavillions representing Taiwan, Jordan, and China.

For the second time, IPA, a world food processing exhibition, will be held simultaneously at Paris Nord-Villepinte. In 2000, the Emballage-IPA partnership boosted the number of international visitors to each exhibition. Moreover, 25ꯠ visitors took advantage of the opportunity to move freely between the two exhibitions.

In terms of organization, Emballage remains the only exhibition of its size in the world that locates exhibitors by sector. Exhibitors are grouped by activity and by priority markets.

Special emphasis

The Label Village will be located in Hall 4, in the middle of the printing, coding, and marking sector. Some 50 companies are expected here. Outside of this area, lectures on trends in the labels sector will be organized on Wednesday, November 20.

The Luxury Product Showcase will be located in Hall 6, in the middle of the packaging and containers area in the Health/Beauty sector. More than 140 companies are expected to showcase their products and services in this area.

Visitors can order their badges directly from the exhibition’s Web site at www.emballage2002.com. Thanks to an online newsletter, visitors can view the list of exhibitors, order an exhibition catalogue, or even find a hotel.

The Emballage interviews, a series of free lectures organized throughout the exhibition, also help enrich the visitor’s experience. The interviews are Pack.Vision: The eight truths about the future of packaging, on Monday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m.; Innovations in packaging: Lasting changes or short-lived trends?, on Tuesday, November 19, at 2:30 p.m.; Labels: From standard to customized, on Wednesday, November 20, at 10:00 a.m.; Innovative labelling: inks, varnishes, colorimetrics, and more, on Wednesday, November 20, at 10:00 a.m.; and Distribution requirements and the environment, on Thursday, November 21, at 2:30 p.m.

Another must-see event is the awarding of the Packaging Oscars during the show, honoring the year’s most innovative packaging. The Oscars ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at 5:00 p.m. in the Jean Theves Hall. All of the Oscars will be showcased in Hall 6 for the duration of the exhibition.
