Supplied by CCL Container, the new “Comfort Hold” containers sport shaped contours, clean graphics, and a premium-looking pearl finish. Spray nozzle tips are protected by rounded-edge, lightly color-tinted, molded polypropylene overcaps, supplied by Summit Packaging Systems, Inc.
Strikingly different in appearance from more traditional cylindrical-shaped steel aerosol cans, the Mazola (canola oil, natural butter flavor, and extra virgin olive oil) containers are designed to attract immediate shopper attention on the store shelf. Average retail price of the products is $3.
Bob Larkin, manager of packaging development at ACH, notes, “We were looking for a design that would reinforce the product message of pure aroma and taste and have a strong visual impact to break the clutter on the retail shelf. In a category that has several competitive brands, we needed something that would capture consumers’ imagination so that they would think of our product as unique and different from all other cooking sprays.”
The packaging also features a valve/actuator assembly system customized to accommodate high-efficiency patterned spraying of the specially formulated products. The filling, gassing, and actuator tipping is accomplished using standard equipment in place at contract packer Full Fill Industries LLC. —Judy Rice
