Noncontact sensors

Hyde Park Electronics (Dayton, OH) has introduced level-control, analog-output sensors. Superprox® Model SM506A-400 (cable style) and Model SM556A (connector style) are noncontact sensors with a sensing range from 2" to 79".

They can monitor the distance to an object while generating a proportional analog output relative to two span limits, which can be preset. For applications such as maintaining a constant fill level, the analog output modulates the product flow into the filler as the speed changes.
