Mars Petcare has announced it’s upgrading its manufacturing facility in Kansas City, Mo. The expansion will include the installation of new processing and packaging machinery, in addition to the improvement of the site’s utilities and infrastructure. The expansion will increase the facility’s treats production capacity by more than 75%, the equivalent of over 940 million treats per year. Expected to be completed early next year, the $82 million project is projected to create 95 jobs.

The Kansas City facility produces Greenies Pill Pockets, Greenies Dog Supplements, and Greenies Dental Dog Treats, as well as Pill Assist Cat by Royal Canin, and currently employs more than 260 people. One of more than a dozen Mars Petcare sites in the U.S., the Kansas City facility has served as a fundamental hub for the company’s treat manufacturing since 2006.
