Whitehall, PA-based Protica, Inc., makers of the first protein shot, Profect®, and dozens of the world’s most compact protein and energy drinks, has now set its sights on bulk packaging, thanks to The Answer™, the patented aseptic tap from International Dispensing Corp.

The Answer, the world’s only aseptic dispensing device, enables shelf-stable liquids in large-format packages—such as a bag-in-box—to be dispensed safely and repeatedly over extended time without refrigeration. IDC and Protica recently inked a deal that grants Protica exclusive distribution rights to The Answer for protein-based and energy-based liquids.

“For several years Protica has been the exclusive manufacture of vial-based protein and energy drinks, producing some of the most compact beverages and supplements on the market,” says Jim Duffy, Protica president. “One of the drivers for us has been to deliver novel, efficacious products with the greatest level of convenience. The Answer allows us to continue that movement, but on a bulk basis. We can now deliver a tremendous economy of scale to our business partners and consumers.”

Protica’s house brands and private-labeled brands are currently distributed in tens of thousands of retail locations throughout the healthcare, sports nutrition and mass retail channels. Products using The Answer will be sold through the same channels.
