P&G, DuPont invest in Packtion

Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble and DuPont (Wilmington, DE) have agreed to become investors in Packtion™ (Chicago, IL), an online solution provider that matches global buyers, sellers and converters of packaging materials. The investment is a combination of cash (amount undisclosed by the three parties) and certain intellectual property.

“Packtion’s vision of supply chain collaboration for packaging design and procurement fits very well with our other B2B and Web-enabled supply chain initiatives,” says Steve David, chief information officer at P&G. “By utilizing Packtion’s collaborative capabilities with key supply chain partners, we will be able to provide our consumers with more effective, lower-cost packages.”

Terry Caloghiris, president of DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, says that the combination of packaging workflow knowledge from the three companies is expected to expedite on-line commerce. Packtion offers buyers, suppliers and converters of packaging materials a means to integrate the supply chain, from design through manufacturing and procurement.

In October 2000, Packtion licensed content from Packaging World, Packworld.com and Net Sourcing. (PR)
