Trace amounts of alcohol in chips infuriate Muslims...

In the U.K., chip maker Walkers has been accused by Muslim consumers of insensitivity to their dietary restrictions.

Trace amounts of alcohol have been found in some varieties of their chips, but no mention of this is made on the package label. Alcohol can be used as a carrying agent for flavorings, and is found in trace amounts in some products. A Walkers spokesperson said trace amounts of alcohol is believed to be permissible for Muslims. However, the Muslim community still feels it should be informed when even a minute amount of alcohol is contained in a food.
