A pulsed cold plasma is used to deposit an extremely thin glass (SiOx) layer of excellent homogeneity and adhesion on the interior of the PET bottle to provide improvement in the barrier effect. The flexible design and compact dimensions allow the machine to be integrated into a wide range of filling lines.
New barrier coating
The Plasmax plasma coating system is said to be the first machine to apply the Plasma Impulse Chemical Vapor Deposition process to PET bottles. Previously, the PICVD process, developed by Schott HiCotec, has been used for coating glass and certain plastics, but not PER bottles.
