Albertson's endorses produce packing system

Boise, ID-based Albertson's has told its produce procurement managers to advise growers that it prefers the use of International Paper's (Purchase, NY) Defor(TM) corrugated packaging system for produce.

The Defor system of interlocking modular corrugated boxes consists of "field-to-display" containers that minimize damage to delicate produce while they reduce labor costs in the store by providing an easy-to-rotate, shelf-ready display, says Richard Guthmiller, vice president of produce sales at Albertson's.
