Karlville and Musashino Kikai form strategic machinery partnership

Musashino Kikai specializes in functional film lines and machinery for extrusion lamination and coating.

Karlville announces Musashino Kikai as a strategic partner worldwide for inspection machinery, slitting machines, and pouch making machines, among other machinery. Musashino Kikai is a long-established, leading Japanese machine manufacturing company founded in 1959, focused on cutting edge functional film lines and extrusion lamination and coating machinery with state-of-the-art screw and die technologies and a vast experience in a wide range of applications.

Musashino Kikai was Japan’s first manufacturer of extrusion lamination machinery. Musashino Kikai offers standard lines as well as custom tailored lines according to customer requests. All extrusion technology is developed in-house with a focus on evenness of mixing and kneading as well as unique high-dimensional trimless technology. Some other examples of core technical strength are polarized membrane manufacturing lines, breathable film lines, and manufacturing lines for high strength fiber made from genetically modified natural materials.

Musashino Kikai leads and forms the core of the Unicom Group, which is a group of 11 machinery companies focused in converting, plastic processing, and packaging machinery. Other Unicom Group companies in the converting field include printing machines (Sobu Kikai), inspection machinery (DAC Engineering), slitting machines (Nishimura MFG), and pouch making machines (New Iwasho).

Karlville brings a new fresh global marketing and sales approach to Musashino Kikai. The partnership will strengthen each company’s core competences. Karlville has also integrated New Iwasho pouch machines and DAC Engineering Cameras on Webcontrol inspection machines into their machinery line.

Specific to pouch machines, Karlville will showcase a quick change, short footprint dedicated stand-up machine at this year’s Global Pouch Conference. In sync with Musashino Kikai quality, the pouch machine features precise engineering with a Karlville configuration that meets market needs. With an aggressive rollout program for 2016, Karlville launches a dual web in register machine for digital and narrow web flexo applications as well as an innovative print PET Food/Side Gusset machine with integrated glue fold bottom system. All configurations are in line with Karlville’s short foot print approach.

As an investment for innovation, Musashino Kikai is also proud to announce the completion of a state of the art, extrusion coating and lamination pilot and production facility in Japan. Inside the “Film Magic Labo,” a new cutting edge test coater will be capable of trials and product development.
