The flexible packaging is made from 40 percent chalk, air, and a minute amount of plastic. Xylophane is a film used for keeping foods like juice, coffee, chocolate and chips fresh. Xylophane is painted onto cardboard to increase strength—and it's edible. A third product—OrganoClick—"enables the manufacture of cellulose-based materials that are water-resistant and firm." A boon to companies seeking to reduce the use of non-renewable materials in the paper and pulp industry.
