While injection stretch/blow molding of PET bottles for honey is something of a novelty in the U.S., European blow molder PET-Power (Etten-Leur, Holland) has been producing such containers for about five years. A sampling of its output is shown here.
PET-Power uses reheat-and-blow equipment and relies on Eastapak® PET resin from Eastman Chemical (Kingsport, TN). According to Kees Killestijn, managing director at PET-Power, the material is clear, lightweight and easy to process. It also produces a bottle with especially high gloss, says Killestijn, which makes the gold-colored honey all the more appealing on the shelf.
