East Afripack is powered by Italy’s Ipack-Ima Spa and is a joint venture with PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. Official partners include UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), EAC (East Affrican Community), and the Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development of Kenya.
Seminars, meetings, and presentations will be available in addition to the booths occupying the exhibition hall. Beginning September 10 is an international conference: Food processing & packaging innovation for a sustainable development. Day One will focus on “Innovation trends in the agro-food chains;” Day Two will focus on “Sustainable packaging: challenges and solutions; “and Day Three will focus on “Normative and educational prerequisites for a sustainable development in agro-food chains.”
Also just announced is a customized technology consulting service, the Business Technology Planning Team, to make visitors to East Afripack even more productive and profitable. This is an exclusive, free of charge initiative developed by the producers of the show for visiting industry professionals. A special booth has been set up to provide information and technical, regulatory, and environmental support to companies planning investment in new technology. It will match demand and offer the support of both local and Italian experts experienced in investigating development issues connected to business projects and recommending technologically and economically sustainable solutions.
Claudio Peri, professor at the University of Milan, will coordinate the Business Technology Planning Team program.
