Despite solutions such as temperature and GPS tracking, there are still many challenges to overcome in pharma freight and logistics. But public-private partnerships are helping to advance the industry and protect products. The Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute (IFTI) at the University of Memphis addresses critical issues related to intermodal freight transportation systems. Along with the FedEx Institute of Technology, the institute created a Biologistics Research Cluster, home to the University of Memphis Biologistics Research Fellows.

The partners perform multi-disciplinary research and curricular initiatives in Memphis, a nexus of air, rail and road transportation infrastructure. They will host the 10th Annual Intermodal Conference, “The State of Freight,” this Friday, December 2, 2016, from 8:15 am to 12:00 pm at the FedEx Institute of Technology in Memphis. The morning conference will highlight current freight issues, packaging challenges, the changing last mile and more.

After lunch, the conference will be followed by the First Annual Biologistics Symposium, “Advancing Supply Chains, Logistics, and Transportation of Bio-Products: State of the Art Meets State of the Practice.”

Symposium attendees will get the chance to view cutting edge research happening at the University of Memphis through the partnership between the IFTI and the FedEx Institute of Technology. The symposium will cover innovations in packaging for biologistics applications, as well as additive manufacturing for biologistics and security challenges.

The Dec. 2, 2016, conference is free to attend; click here to register. For more conference details, visit the event page.
