Heidenhain has introduced the EIB 192 External Interface Box, which changes its signal from analog to digital by changing 1Vpp encoder signals to an EnDat 2.2 bidirectional digital interface.

This allows incremental encoders with 1Vpp signals to be used as part of an absolute system, a particularly useful option for motion control applications that want to utilize both incremental and absolute measuring systems in machinery.
