Networks still optional

A recent survey of machine builders confirms that networks are still in the works for most customers.

Machine builders get requests for networks, but the majority of installations are still on non-networked lines. That’s according to a recent Packaging World survey of packaging machine builders conducted on our Web site, Packworld.com.

Those results are similar to the findings of an end user networking survey published last month (pack- world.com/go/c052), which showed that 66% of respondents had few or no networked packaging lines.

The survey, which was conducted this summer in cooperation with Control Design magazine, was restricted solely to machine builders. It drew 56 qualified responses, primarily from those who work in sales and marketing or engineering capacities.
