PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has partnered with the SAVE FOOD initiative. The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization and German trade show producer Messe Düsseldorf GmbH established SAVE FOOD in 2011 to bring the issue of global food loss to the international political and economic agenda. Since then, 90 food packaging and processing companies have stepped up to support this worldwide battle against hunger, with Packaging World magazine signing on as the first official media partner.
“PMMI works to connect the packaging and processing supply chain to spur innovation and growth. The results of that day-to-day work and our efforts in this forum—improved food safety conditions and more efficient production, for example—can really make a difference for a better, more sustainable food supply,” said Charles D. Yuska, President and CEO, PMMI. “Our goals complement those of SAVE FOOD—bringing stakeholders together to address, and ultimately solve, the serious issue of unnecessary food loss.
“SAVE FOOD is an important initiative, and we’re proud to support it. People go hungry every day, and if we can reduce food spoilage throughout the supply chain, we have an opportunity to make a powerful difference in the world.”
