"The ultimate in green packaging" provides finicky customers with a quality product in a quality package (a leak-proof, sturdy design) that is also 100 percent biodegradable and compostable. After searching for alternatives at several packaging expos, the company developed the paper jar itself. The jar "performs just as well as glass or plastic but will break-down without a trace" according to Organic Essence co-founder Ellery West. He went on to say, "I am actively encouraging other manufacturers to copy our biodegradable jar design, because if they do, the environment and everybody in it, wins." The company has not sought a patent for the container for this very reason.
