Machine vision use jumps

North American container manufacturers purchased 1겭 purchased 1겭 machine vision systems last year, at a value of $36.2 million. That’s according to a new market study from Ann Arbor, MI-based Automated Imaging Assn. AIA says that represents a 35% increase in units and 36% rise in dollars compared to 2000.

The study reports that machine vision systems are used for post-filling inspection, sorting of rejects, and cap and label inspection. Container manufacturers and container fillers use them for plastic, metal, and glass containers. According to the study, 75% of the systems are used for containers used for beverages, 20% for foods, and 5% for pharmaceuticals.
